Crossing
the Threshold

A little less noise

You can come
without knowing.

Perhaps something has had its time. Perhaps you want a change but cannot see what it might be. Or something is already shifting, and you need space to catch up with yourself.

We will explore what you are ready to release, what you already know and value in yourself, and what you want to carry forward. There is room for the goodbye, and also for desire, energy and curiosity about what might come next.

You do not need to become a different person or leave with a finished plan. Some things become clearer when there is less demand to explain them. And sometimes, once there is a little more space, excitement returns before certainty does.

At the threshold

What is asking
for space?

These are invitations to explore. You may recognise one, all three, or something quite different when you arrive.

ACKNOWLEDGE WHAT HAS HAD ITS TIME

A goodbye can take its own time.

An old role, an expectation, a way of protecting yourself. Before letting something go, there may be gratitude or grief to acknowledge. Release can be emotional and expressive, or quiet and subtle. There may be tears, laughter, movement, sound, or simply a quiet recognition that something is finished. Nothing needs to be made to happen.

YOU ARE NOT STARTING FROM NOTHING

What do you want to carry with you?

There are things you already know, qualities you value and experiences that have shaped you. We will make space to recognise what is yours to keep, including what can get lost beneath other people’s expectations.

MAKE ROOM FOR WHAT DRAWS YOU FORWARD

Notice what wants more life.

What keeps asking for your attention? What gives you energy, curiosity or a flicker of excitement? Through experience and reflection, explore possibility without being asked to produce a grand purpose or a plan by Sunday.

Ways into the experience

Grounded in psychology.
Room for mystery.

Breathwork, sound and experiential practices sit alongside coaching and reflection. The spiritual element is an invitation to explore meaning in your own way, with no shared belief required.

Snow outside. Fire inside.

Winter is part
of the retreat.

We will head out for gentle walks and snowshoeing, with room to pause and take in the landscape. Then back into warmth, a nourishing meal and time to let the day settle.

Outdoor winter immersion means spending time in the winter landscape. There is no expectation to take a cold plunge or push through discomfort.

Stay with the group, take a quiet moment, or choose the comfort of the chalet. Outings will follow the weather and conditions.

Space beyond the everyday

Out into the quiet.

Snowshoeing is included. The pace is gentle, with time for the landscape as well as the conversation. The precise route and arrangements will depend on conditions.

One possible day

Enough held.
Enough open.

The programme will respond to the group and conditions. This is a feel for the rhythm, with spacious time between sessions.

Morning: An unhurried beginning

Breakfast, quiet time and a guided breath or reflection practice. A little space to notice how you are arriving in the day.

Daytime: Into the winter landscape

A snowy walk or snowshoe outing when conditions allow, lunch and time for reflection or deeper practice. There is room between sessions to rest or be alone.

Evening: Warmth and company

A vegetarian meal, conversation and perhaps singing, sound or reflection by the fire. Join in, listen quietly or head off with a book.

Our winter home

A chalet in
the French Alps.

We are planning an intimate chalet setting in the Morzine area, with shared and private rooms, communal living space and the mountains close by. Somewhere warm to return to after time outdoors, with corners for quiet as well as space to gather.

The exact March chalet has not yet been confirmed. Room arrangements, facilities and travel details will be shared before you commit to booking. The L’Ecuela photographs below show the venue booked for Deep Winter in November 2026 and are included to convey the kind of setting being sought for March.

Warmth, humour
and space to be yourself.

Alison brings together psychology, mental health, coaching, breathwork and sound. Her work makes room for honest reflection and experiences that are not always easy to put into words.

Submitting the form does not confirm your place or take payment. Alison will confirm availability and the deposit date with you personally.

Who is this retreat for?

People who want something to change, or can already feel a shift, without necessarily knowing what comes next. You do not need to arrive with a decision, a spiritual practice or a particular belief.

Do I have to take part in everything?

No. Practices, outings and sharing are optional. Quiet time, reading and rest are part of the weekend too.

How deep does the breathwork go?

There will be opportunities for deeper breathwork, alongside gentler practices. Alison will discuss suitability with you beforehand. You can adapt, pause or opt out; an intense experience is never the goal.

Do I need snowshoeing experience?

The intention is a gentle outing rather than a demanding expedition. Please discuss mobility, access or fitness questions with Alison so the arrangements can be considered with you. Practical equipment details will be confirmed before arrival.

Are snow and activities guaranteed?

Winter outings depend on weather, snow cover and local conditions. The programme will adapt when needed. Husky sledding is a possible extra, not a confirmed activity.

What happens after I register?

Alison will review your form, confirm availability and suitability, and send you the deposit payment date. Your place is confirmed when the deposit or full payment is received.
